Hello! I’m Valerie and I am an abstract artist living in Tampa, Fl. In 2016 I received my Bachelor’s of Music in Bassoon Performance from USF. My love of music has always been a huge inspiration for my artwork, and I often see these two forms of expression to be extensions of one another.
My paintings are born out of my own personal experiences, feelings, thoughts, fears, and dreams. I paint to know myself and to understand the world better. I’m inspired by the seemingly small, magical beauty of the world. Sunsets. Lightening. Cracks in pavement. The way that light and wind move through trees. The patterns that shadows make. Iridescence, transparency, and luminescence. I believe abstract art is found best within nature and the world around us and my goal is to capture this magic in my paintings.
My art seeks to explore the interconnections between color, sound, nature, memory, and the spectrum of human emotion. My hope is for these paintings to evoke a sense of nostalgia and deep recognition. A longing or remembrance to what was once familiar. As one gazes at the clouds in the sky and makes out shapes and patterns, my work encourages the same.
